Christian and Evelyne's Wedding at Six Senses Resort, Koh Yao Noi, Thailand

This Wedding will be one I will never forget, not only because it was truly beautiful filled with amazing love vibes between Christian and Evelyne; but because as I finished the session and arrived home I was greeted to a team of police surrounding my property with guns and bulletproof vests.

The ceremony took place on a secluded beach cove in front of Six Senses Resort in the fresh hours of the morning.  The morning mist was still embracing the limestone islands in the distance.  After the ceremony we began a 3 hour portrait session around the resort, taking advantage of the unique beauty and design of Six Senses.

Christian and Evelyne were amazing to work with.  Their smiles and laughter seemed endless even after 3 hours of me sticking my lens in their faces!  After I said goodbye, I left the resort feeling a small glow inside me after a job well done.

Little did I know that while I was having such a good time taking photos at the wedding, there was major drama unfolding at my house.  A man who was wanted for murdering a police officer in Krabi had been discovered hiding in the mangrove bushes that surround our house.  For the last two hours the police were staking him out waiting for him to show himself.

Seconds after I pulled into my driveway the gun shots began.  I couldn't even tell where they were coming from, it seemed like there were bullets flying everywhere.  At first I just hit the ground, then I saw my husband standing on the balcony and I ran to him.  A police officer came running by and yelled at us to get inside the house.  The gunshots continued for what seemed like another 5 minutes before they seemed to move away from the house and the chase for the fugitive continued towards the sea.  Afterwards I found out that the suspected murderer jumped into the ocean and swam to an island where they later apprehended him.

Koh Yao Noi is as peaceful and safe an island as you can find anywhere in the world.  Crime seems very non existent here, it really is a wonderful and caring community of people.  This incident is so rare and bizarre for a place like this and it's astonishing to be an actual live witness to something so nasty.  The irony of a wedding filled love and then my personal space filled with bullets has not been lost on me, however I still look forward to the adventures of tomorrow!
